Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting someone who, within just two minutes, captivated me with their company and conversation. Not only did I admire their way of speaking, but I also sensed a level of higher consciousness in their aura. As a highly sensitive person, I can easily pick up on others’ vibes, and this encounter immediately put me at ease, making me feel comfortable in their presence.

I’ve always been drawn to individuals with a calm demeanour, like one of my cousins, who exudes a relaxed and composed aura that grounds me. It’s fascinating to me how some people can maintain such tranquilly amidst chaos. I’ve also come to know many individuals who approach life and every situation with remarkable calmness, collectedness, empathy, and wisdom.

These are the people whose actions and demeanour reflect a deeper understanding of life and its interconnectedness. They exhibit traits that go beyond the ordinary—traits that emanate from a state of higher consciousness. In this article, we’ll delve into seven uncommon traits exhibited by individuals with higher consciousness that simply cannot be overlooked.

What is higher consciousness?

Higher consciousness refers to an elevated state of awareness and understanding that transcends the limitations of the ego and the material world. It is a state characterised by profound insight, empathy, and interconnectedness with all beings and phenomena. Individuals who embody higher consciousness often exhibit a heightened sense of self-awareness, compassion, and purpose in life.

At its core, higher consciousness involves a shift in perception from a purely individualistic perspective to one that recognises the inherent unity and interconnectedness of all existence. It involves recognising that one’s actions and thoughts have ripple effects that extend far beyond the individual self, impacting the collective consciousness of humanity and the world at large.

Individuals with higher consciousness often experience a deep sense of inner peace, contentment, and fulfilment, regardless of external circumstances. They are more attuned to their intuition and inner guidance, allowing them to navigate life with clarity and purpose.

So let’s explore the seven uncommon traits that are commonly observed in people who have attained higher consciousness, which also include my insights and my own spiritual journey towards enlightenment. These traits serve as markers of their elevated state of awareness and can offer valuable insights into the path of personal growth and spiritual development.

7 Uncommon Traits of People Who Have Attained Higher Consciousness

1. They regularly engage in deep self-reflection

Higher consciousness

Individuals with higher consciousness regularly set aside time for deep self-reflection. This practice involves introspecting on thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and experiences with honesty and openness. They use techniques like meditation or journaling to explore their inner world, gaining insights into their true selves, values, and purpose.

In my spiritual journey, I always make it a point to begin my day with meditation and end it with reflection. This practice helps me understand how I handled situations and how gracefully I lived through each moment of each day. Additionally, I consciously replay certain scenes in my mind if I don’t like how I behaved, allowing me to correct my actions and move towards inner peace and gratitude. It’s a way of discipling my mind and senses.

Deep self-reflection fosters self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and personal growth, empowering individuals to make decisions aligned with their authentic selves.

2. They prioritise inner peace over external validation

Individuals with a higher consciousness prioritise inner peace over external validation. They cultivate this inner peace through practices like meditation, mindfulness, and self-care. By prioritising inner peace, they develop a strong sense of self-worth and confidence, independent of external opinions. This allows them to stay grounded and make decisions aligned with their values and intuition, leading to greater autonomy and fulfilment in life.

We all grow in and out of situations every now and then. That’s the design of life on Earth. In my case, it took me ten long years to entirely break this wall of needing to have external validation on things that, anyway, only I enjoyed, cherished, and felt blissful about.

Each one is journeying on their own time line, and hence, what we like and where we want to go might not be the choice of every person whom we encounter or cross paths with. And that’s absolutely fine.

Hence, just like individuals with higher consciousness, one can also cultivate a life of clarity and consciousness to live to the fullest with inner peace and contentment, encouraging the same in others.

3. They practice forgiveness and let go of grudges easily

Individuals with higher consciousness practice forgiveness to release negative emotions and cultivate inner peace. They understand that holding onto grudges burdens them with resentment and negativity.

For the longest time, I was an overthinking, overreacting individual. I wasn’t one to hold grudges, but I lacked both friends and foes, to be honest. However, I found myself often judgmental and critical of others, lacking in compassion.

It wasn’t until I discovered Osho’s ‘Awareness‘ and ‘Learning to Silence the Mind‘, along with my daily meditation, that my perspective underwent a significant shift. Awareness holds the answers to everything. I realised that forgiveness begins with oneself, and once I learned this, I was able to effortlessly let go of others’ faults.

By letting go of past grievances, people with higher consciousness create space for healing and reconciliation, both within themselves and in their relationships with others.

4. Have a strong sense of empathy towards all living beings

Higher consciousness

I made the decision to stop consuming meat, and as a highly sensitive person, I’ve always felt overwhelmed with compassion towards others. This sensitivity has only increased since my awakening and ascension.

Individuals with higher consciousness possess a strong sense of empathy, allowing them to deeply understand and connect with the experiences and emotions of others. This empathy extends beyond human relationships to encompass all forms of life, including animals and nature.

They strive to minimise harm and promote the well-being of all beings, recognising that every individual deserves love, respect, and dignity.

By cultivating empathy, individuals with higher consciousness foster deeper connections with others and contribute to creating a more compassionate and harmonious world. They prioritise kindness and understanding in their interactions, embodying the principle of treating others as they would like to be treated.

5. They embrace vulnerability and authenticity in their relationships

I have mentioned this many times in my other posts here on how being authentically yourself helps in not only building a strong relationship with others but also, more importantly, contributes to your own mental and spiritual well-being.

Individuals with higher consciousness prioritise genuine connection by courageously embracing vulnerability and authenticity in their relationships. They understand that true intimacy and understanding can only flourish when they are willing to show up as their authentic selves, sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly and honestly.

By embracing vulnerability, the highly conscious ones create spaces for deeper emotional connections and trust within their relationships. This willingness to be vulnerable fosters an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding, allowing others to feel seen, heard, and valued.

Moreover, by embodying authenticity in their interactions, individuals with higher consciousness inspire others to do the same, creating a ripple effect of genuine connection and understanding in their social circles and communities.

6. Higher Consciousness People actively seek to understand different perspectives and worldviews

This is my favourite part—the one that keeps my curious mind going forever. Spiritual awakening opens up your awareness in ways you couldn’t have imagined. For me, it’s like feeling the whole world as one, a unified, loving home for all, transcending boundaries.

Individuals with higher consciousness actively seek to understand different perspectives and worldviews. They approach interactions with curiosity and an open mind, recognising the value of diversity and the richness it brings to their understanding of the world.

Rather than clinging to rigid beliefs or judgements, they embrace the opportunity to learn from others and expand their own perspectives. This willingness to listen to and empathise with diverse viewpoints fosters greater empathy, compassion, and mutual respect in their interactions.

Moreover, by seeking to understand different perspectives, individuals with higher consciousness contribute to building bridges of understanding and fostering harmony in their relationships and communities.

They recognise that true growth and progress occur when people come together with openness and a willingness to learn from one another.

7. They live with a deep sense of gratitude for life’s blessings

Individuals with higher consciousness live with a deep sense of gratitude for life’s blessings. They cultivate an attitude of appreciation for the beauty and abundance that surround them, no matter how big or small.

Rather than focusing on what they lack or what’s going wrong, they choose to focus on what they have and what’s going right. They recognise the power of gratitude to shift their perspective and enhance their overall well-being.

In my journey, reading ‘The Secret‘ and practicing ‘The Magic‘ by Rhonda Byrne changed my perspective and helped me direct my energies in the right way. This set the path towards my spiritual journey.

Living with gratitude allows individuals with higher consciousness to find joy and fulfilment in the present moment. They take nothing for granted and find beauty in the simple pleasures of life, such as a warm smile, a kind gesture, or a breathtaking sunset.

Moreover, practicing gratitude fosters a deeper connection to oneself, others, and the world at large. It opens their hearts to receive more love and abundance while also inspiring others to cultivate a similar attitude of appreciation and thankfulness.
